The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has helped 195 people to quit smoking out of 604 who visited Quit Smoking Clinics in various health centres during the first three quarters of this year.

PHCC said that the age of most smokers who visited the clinics, was between 18 and 30 and the success rate was almost one out of three.
Dr Wadha al-Baker, director, health promotion and wellness at PHCC, said, “Visitors to Quit Smoking Clinic are subjected to a comprehensive assessment of their condition to find out their readiness to quit smoking. Then, we provide them with appropriate medical and behavioural treatment. It is followed by periodical visits to the clinics.”
Dr Wadha pointed out that PHCC has expanded Quit Smoking Clinic to Leabaib, Al Dayen, Al Gharafa, Omar Bin Khataab, Abu Baker and Mesaimeer health centres.
