A wide range of cultural and entertainment shows will be staged over two days as part of the “Communities Eid al-Adha 2016 Celebrations” organised by the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
The programmes will be held from 5pm to 10pm on the first two days of Eid - at Al Wakrah Sports Club on Monday and at Asian Town (Doha Industrial Area) and Barwa Workers' Sports Complex (Al Khor) on Monday and Tuesday, the MoI’s Public Relations Department has said in a statement.
Indian, Nepalese, Sri Lankan, Bangladeshi and Indonesian community teams and Sariga orchestra will perform at the mega community event that will be held on the open stage near the cricket stadium at Asian Town.
From the Indian community, Skills Development Centre Music Club and Trends Qatar, a socio-cultural group, will render songs in different languages by performers such as Siju, Ashiq, Isahaq, Fasil, Ajmal and Nithya on the first day of Eid.
On the second day, songs will be presented by various members of Trends Qatar. The famous Indian Bhangra dance will be another attraction at Asian Town.
Bangladeshi community musical troupes Otoppor, Chironton Baul and Srabon, along with well-known community singer Sinthia will join the event by presenting songs and Bengali comedy shows.
Nepalese community teams will enthral the audience at Asian town with folkloric and traditional shows headed by Tek Raj Thapa, Tamu (Gurung) Samaj Qatar, Shiva Ram Dhakal, Rabina Pokharel, Iman Singh Thakuri, Kamala Gurung, Biru Arthak Sunar, and Susma Pun Magar on behalf of Non-Resident Nepalese Association Qatar on both days of Eid.

Under the banner of Permiqa, the Indonesian community organisation in Qatar, community teams will showcase three renowned traditional Indonesian dances such as Sajojo, Tor Tor, Cinta Indonesia, some Arabic songs and a performance by X3 Band on the first day of Eid at Asian Town.
The Sri Lankan Co-ordination Committee will take part in the event on both days by presenting Sinhalese, Tamil and Hindi songs.
Meanwhile, well-known Pakistani singers Waheed Achakzai and Nadiya Gul, multi-lingual singer Rizwana and Peshawari singer Mariyah Khan will lead the cultural programme in Al Wakrah Sports Club on the first day of Eid. The orchestra will be headed by Asif.
On the second day of Eid, Achakzai, Gul, Rizwana and Khan, along with Asif, will perform at Asian Town as part of the “Communities Eid al-Adha 2016 Celebrations” from 9pm.
The two-day Al Khor Communities Eid Celebrations, to be held from 5pm at Barwa Workers' Sports Complex in the Al Khor Industrial Area, has been organised by Barwa Group in collaboration with the MoI.
The event will showcase performances by the Indian, Bangladeshi and Nepalese communities as well as musical concerts by Sariga orchestra on the first day of Eid and Srabon orchestra on the second day. They will sing in the Hindi, Nepali, Bengali, Malayalam, Tamil and Punjabi languages.
A workers’ talent show will give participants a chance to sing and dance on the stage, with the workers’ skills development entertainment games (to be held from 4pm) being another attraction in Al Khor.
The MoI has invited all community members, including employees of companies and their families, to join the “Communities Eid al-Adha 2016 Celebrations” at the three venues.
Entry to the programmes is free and members of the audience can win prizes through a raffle draw. There will also be a separate area for families at each venue.
In addition, talented members of the audience who are interested in singing songs or dancing on the stage will be given a chance to perform.
