A two-kilometre-long section between Al Qalaa and Al Wajba Interchanges on Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street (as shown in the map) will remain closed for two weeks from Thursday.
During the closure, traffic from Bani Hajer to Doha will be diverted from Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street onto Al Wajba Street. Motorists can turn left onto Al Qalaa Street and exit right at the roundabout to resume journey on Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street.
Those travelling from Doha towards Bani Hajer will have to turn onto Al Qalaa Street, and can turn right on Al Wajba Street to resume journey on Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street.
The diversion is required to lay permanent asphalt on the road as part of the first phase of Ashghal’s Al Rayyan Road upgrade project.
To minimise disruption to families, school children and teaching staff, Ashghal aims to complete the necessary works on a war footing and make the section of the street available for use before schools reopen.
Ashghal expects to complete the Al Rayyan Road upgrade project, converting the 2.9km stretch of Al Rayyan Road into a dual carriageway, by the end of the first quarter of 2017. There will be four lanes in each direction with three interchanges.
