Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa), represented by the Conservation and Energy Efficiency (CN) Department, has received a delegation from Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority (Sewa).
The delegation arrived in Doha as part of a Gulf tour to exchange experience on the conservation of energy and water and efficient utilisation of resources.
The CN Department presented a lecture on Qatar’s successful experiments through the National Programme of Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed), especially in terms of the application of Conservation Law No 20/2015 regarding electricity and water consumption, Kahramaa said in a press statement.
The lecture also included information on successful awareness campaigns and laws and regulations pertaining to tariff, electrical devices, conserving building practices and renewable energy as part of the projects and initiatives of Tarsheed, which was launched by Kahramaa under the patronage of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
The Sewa delegation praised Kahramaa’s efforts through Tarsheed and its role in disseminating a culture of water and electricity conservation and the techniques and regulations involved, in addition to encouraging the application of renewable energy technologies, the statement noted.
The delegation also visited the Kahramaa Awareness Park, which is the first of its kind in the region. The park will open this year and is expected to receive a large number of visitors from schools, universities and researchers. It aims to inform future generations of the importance of conserving electricity and water and preserving natural resources to achieve comprehensive sustainability in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
The Sewa delegation’s visit to Doha marks the completion of its Gulf tour, which has been conducted in the context of promoting relations and exchanging expertise among GCC countries to provide the best electricity and water services to customers by applying the latest technology and promoting the culture of conservation among all segments of society.
