The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that it will implement, in co-ordination with the Traffic Department, a closure at the Al Ghessen Interchange (N48) on Al Shamal Road from Monday.

The closure will last two months and include entrances and exits of the interchange in both directions (see map).

In a press statement, Ashghal has said the closure – located in the Imgaitna area (Zone 75) - is required to carry out construction works as part of the North Road enhancement project.

During the closure period, traffic heading to and from the closed interchange will be diverted to newly constructed service roads on either side of Al Shamal Road, which are located between the Umm Al Shukhoot Interchange (N44) and Umm Ethnaitain (N54), as shown on the map.

Both directions of Al Shamal Road will remain open to traffic throughout the diversion period.

The authority will instal road signs advising motorists of the closure. It has requested all road users to abide by the speed limit and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
