Indian Dalit, Sombhai, 50, puts down his tools for skinning cattle beside a dead cow on the outskirts of Bhuvaldi village of Ahmedabad district. Sombhai’s profession is to skin dead cattle but owing to the recent beating of Dalit youths by the so-called Gau Rakshaks (Cow Protectors) in Una region of Gujarat state a fortnight ago, hundreds of cattle skinners have struck work in protest.
