LG Electronics yesterday launched their OLED TV series and Super UHD TV range in Qatar at a function hosted by local distributors Video Home & Electronics Centre.
With its arrival, Qatar has become the first Gulf state where the premium range of televisions are making their entry.
LG Electronics Gulf president Yong Geun Choi in a statement said LG products have recorded a steady growth in the local market over the years and the growing awareness about the LG brand among the people would contribute significantly to its further growth.
Geun said LG has been constantly focusing on raising awareness of OLED TVs and hence a substantial growth in sales is on the cards for the new models. “Globally as well as across the region this has contributed in a positive impact on the sales of OLED,” he said while expressing the hope that Qatar’s tech-savvy consumers would contribute significantly to its further growth.
Another company official said Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) has delivered the best picture quality of any type of TV today. “OLED has the unique ability to turn each individual pixel on or off. This enables the television to display perfect black and an infinite contrast,” he added.
C V Rappai, director and CEO, Video Home and Electronic Centre, said the OLED TV lineup has delivered remarkably stunning picture quality alongside the company’s patented perfect black image and it improved brightness and expanded its colour spectrum.
He said LG is the only television manufacturer today to meet both the Ultra High Definition Alliance’s (UHDA) High Definition Resolution 10 and Dolby vision, both contributing to enrich the ‘theatre effect’ of the televisions.
LG Electronics officials said they hoped to triple their OLED television sales while the company expected the sales of UHD TV sets to double at the global level next year.
The latest LG premium TV lineup includes a host of models such as LG E-6, EG97, UH95, UH85 and UH77 in the range of 55 and 86 inches. The sets, which will be sold at the retail outlets from this week, will be available for prices starting from QR12,000.
LG Electronics head of TV sales I D Lee, regional market director of LG Middle East Derek Sim, vice chairman and managing director of Video Home and Electronic Center Sajed Jassim Mohamed Sulaiman and product marketing manager Ashley Kochery were also present at the launch.
