HSBC has been declared the “World’s Best Investment Bank” by Euromoney at its 2016 Awards for Excellence ceremony held in London. The award is one of the most important in the industry, HSBC said in a statement.
“HSBC Global Banking & Markets is a strong and diversified business. Its markets division is one of the best in the world,” said Euromoney.
“Just as importantly, it is now one of the most joined-up firms in the industry. In particular, the collaboration between Global Banking & Markets and Commercial Banking has been one of the bank’s great recent achievements.”
Collecting the award, Samir Assaf, chief executive of HSBC’s Global Banking and Markets division, said: “It is a great honour to be recognised by Euromoney for the work we have done. What we do is simple — we support our clients, connecting them to opportunities using our global network, strong balance sheet, and integrated product capability.”
HSBC also won the “Best Bank for Corporates,” a new award introduced this year to reflect the ability of a bank to provide services to large corporates across several product groups.
Euromoney, founded in 1969, is a leading authority for the world’s banking and financial markets and is read by financial professionals in more than 100 countries.
