HE the former Deputy Premier Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah on Tuesday received three dignitaries who were in Doha to attend the distribution of Al-Attiyah International Energy Awards instituted by the Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah International Foundation for Energy & Sustainable Development. “The purpose of the meetings was to set in motion further cooperation between each of the organisations and the Foundation,” a statement said. Al-Attiyah is the chairman of the Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah International Foundation for Energy & Sustainable Development. The first meeting was with Aldo Flores-Quiroga, the secretary-general of the International Energy Forum, which is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Amongst its many activities are the organisation of high level symposia and forums. The 6th Symposium on ‘Energy Outlooks’ was held in February in conjunction with Opec and the International Energy Agency (IEA). The second meeting was with Jon Stone (president of the Executive Committee) and Oliver Klaus (Dubai Bureau Chief) of the world famous publisher, the Energy Intelligence Group. The Group publishes some of the most famous energy publications including Petroleum Intelligence Weekly, Oil Market Intelligence and World Gas Intelligence. The final Meeting was held with Dr Jozsef Toth, who is the president of the World Petroleum Council (WPC). The foundation will work on joint projects with the WPC, which holds the World Petroleum Congress. The next Congress will be held in Turkey in 2017 and Dr Toth invited al-Attiyah to attend as a special guest.
