Al Ahli Hospital yesterday conducted an awareness exhibition on orthopaedic trauma, aiming to raise public awareness on common bone and joints injuries and how to handle them for better healing results.
“More than 700 persons attended the event,” Dr Emanuel Tolessa, consultant orthopaedic surgeon and head of the orthopedic department, said, adding: “Companies including Parsons, Cellini, Deloitte, and Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana sent some of their employees to benefit from the event.”
“It is of crucial importance to raise people’s awareness on how to handle common bone and joints injuries, as simple procedures and precautions when handling the injured person at first make dramatic changes in the treatment process,” he said.
Al Ahli hospital handles a large number of surgeries of bone and joints injuries on a regular basis. “Every day, we encounter new types of injuries which enhance our surgical experiences in handling such cases. Besides, the hospital has highly sophisticated equipment that can address both simple and serious cases effectively,” he stated.
Dr Tolessa believes that such events are very important in Qatar as there are a large number of young people in the country, and the possibility of injuries due to work, road accidents or even routine sport activities, making it necessary to raise people’s awareness on how to avoid injuries and how to handle them when required.
Besides issues related to bone and joints health, visitors were offered free blood sugar and blood pressure tests.
“At Al Ahli hospital we adopt a holistic health and treatment approach. The health of a patient has to be addressed in part and as a whole to arrive at better outcomes,” said Dr Tolessa.
The success of the event has inspired the hospital to consider the idea of having more of such events on a wider and more accessible scale.
