The Ministry of Economy and Commerce will hold a two-day event, titled “Creativity beyond borders,” from today to mark World Intellectual Property Day.
The day is observed annually on April 26. The initiative aims to enhance the protection of intellectual property rights (IPR) and promote its adoption on a large scale.
The MEC celebrations will feature a seminar today, which will see the participation of Qatar Scientific Club, Qatar University, Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development as well as a number of innovators, experts and those interested in the field of IPR.
The ministry is also organising a two-day exhibition at Landmark Mall, starting today, to familiarise the public with various aspects of intellectual property rights.
The MEC has invited the public to attend the exhibition and take part in the World Intellectual Property Day celebrations in order to learn and increase their knowledge about the importance of IPR.
World Intellectual Property Day has been celebrated annually since 2000 with the aim of spreading awareness about the concept of IPR protection among copyright holders or those interested in innovative, artistic or literary areas of intellectual property rights, encouraging and enabling them to protect their inventions.
