A Doha Criminal Court has been reviewing the case of an expatriate maid accused of causing the death of her employer, an old lady.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported on Friday that the maid was accused by the victim's family of pushing the old woman, who she used to take care of, from her wheelchair, causing severe injuries that led to her death.
The witness in the case, another maid who used to be a co-worker of the defendant, told the court that on the day of the incident after the evening prayers she heard the defendant crying loudly.
Upon rushing to the room, the other maid found the wheelchair-bound victim on the ground and bleeding heavily from her head. The old lady did not survive.
The witness told the court that one month after the incident, the defendant told her she was very afraid because she had pushed the victim from the chair.
But the defendant told the court that after the accident, everybody at the house of the victim was suspicious of her and threatened her with punishment, so she had to say yes to their version of the event though she claimed of doing nothing wrong to the victim.
She also asked the court to review the surveillance camera records to see what actually happened.
The case was adjourned for the review of more evidence.
