Doha resident Mary Stella Charles (64) died on Wednesday in a Singapore hospital where she had undergone a bypass surgery few days ago.
Stella was the wife of prominent entrepreneur of Qatar's Indian community and Managing Director of Exblowra Group of Companies Nazareth Charles. She is survived by her husband, her only daughter Sumi and son-in-law Carrol Judeson.
A friend told this newspaper that Stella's body was flown from Singapore to her native Nagercoil in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu after completing the formalities. She would be buried at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in her native place on Saturday.
Stella had undergone a kidney transplant at a Singapore hospital in 2012 and was receiving medical attention at regular intervals. However, more than a week ago, her condition worsened suddenly and she was moved to Singapore.
Besides operating companies in Qatar, Charles also runs a few educational institutions in Nagercoil, including Stella Mary's College of Engineering in Nagercoil. Charles is also the chairman of the Nova Educational Trust in his native town.
