Doha: Qatar national cricket team, after an exceptional tour of Singapore, returned home to a warm welcome at the Hamad International Airport on Sunday night.
Amin Ul Islam, Head of the School Boys Cricket and Qatar Cricket Association member, was present on the occasion to receive the Qatar National Team players, who defeated Singapore who is WCL Division 3 of ICC, in all the three Twenty20 Internationals and two One-Day Internationals matches.
QCA President M A Shahid lauded Qatar’s performance in Singapore and commented: “Qatar showed their real potential against a higher-ranked opponent and won all the five matches, which is quite creditable. This display should encourage our players to work harder so that they raise their performance level in the future series. I want to congratulate all the players and members of the support staff for this success.”
The successful trip has not only helped Qatar improve its image, it will also gain them valuable ranking points. Qatar Airways, a long-time partner with the QCA in the development of the sport in Qatar, had sponsored the trip.

represented Qatar were: Imran Ashraf, Mohammad Nadeem, Ch. Iqbal, Awais Malik
(captain Twenty20), Inam Ul Haq (captain ODI), Taimoor Sajjad, Mujeeb Ur Rehman, Khalid Khatib, Mohammad Rizlan, Faisal Khan, Khurram Shehzad, Kamran Khan, Faiz Ullah , Raheel Sheikh and Omran Hussain
The officials who had accompanied the team on the tour were: Manzoor Ahmad (QCA General Secretary), Abdul Rehman (National Coach), Shamsuddin (Coach), Mohd Jahangir (Trainer) and Mohammad Asif, Team Coordinator.
QCA General Secretary Ahmad said: “The trip was wonderful for us. We won all the three T20 matches and both the ODIs quite convincingly. All the players were determined to do well and they proved it on the ground as well. He added that QCA’s vision is to reach initially to the Asia Cup and World Cup Twenty20.
“It was indeed a praiseworthy team effort by the players and I hope the national team will continue to raise its level in future endeavours too,” added Ahmad.
