Qatar General Electricity & Water (Kahramaa) and its national programme for conservation and energy efficiency, Tarsheed, is collaborating with Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and United Development Company (UDC) for its campaign “Gift Earth One Hour” to observe Earth Hour on Saturday from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.

The campaign is aimed at raising awareness among Qatari Society about the importance of turning off lights for one hour to observe Earth Hour joining world communities to protect environment.

This year’s collaboration between Kahramaa and its partners touches all hotels through the effective role of QTA and Pearl Qatar’s residential and commercial properties governed by UDC.

On this occasion, Kahramaa has called upon all the sectors to switch off the electricity showing solidarity with the movement. With the guidelines of Qatar National Vision 2030, Kahramaa has been taking initiatives for sustainability and environment.

Kahramaa is committed to its responsibility for providing sustainable resources for electricity and water for the benefits of the nation and for improving the quality life for the generations to come in line with QNV 2030 which calls for environmental management and protection aimed at ensuring harmony and consistency with economic and social development.

Earth Hour is one of the largest International environmental initiatives being observed every year across the world to protect Planet Earth by turning all lights and unnecessary electrical appliances off for a full hour (8.30pm to 9.30pm) showing solidarity for the great cause.

“Gift Earth One Hour” campaign is to encourage everybody’s role in Qatar to turn off lights and all unnecessary electrical gadgets and to show solidarity by using tags #hour_earth_Qatar and #gift_earth_one hour to raise worldwide attention.
