As a new development initiative aiming to provide a development pathway to the young  Men’s players in Asia, the Asian Tennis Federation launched the Asian Tennis Tour after the meeting held by the Board of Directors in February 25th, in Doha.
This tour has been created with the specific objective of enhancing opportunities for the young Asian tennis players to fill up the void between the national and international professional Circuits. It will also help the professional players to earn decent living of the game enabling them to invest in their journey of becoming an international tennis player.
Chairman of the Asian Tennis Federation HE Nasser bin Ghanim al-Khelaifi stated : “This tour is a great ATF initiative that aims to provide the much needed boost to the careers of the young Asian tennis players, who have up till now found it difficult to make the transition from juniors to the men’s circuit.”
Anil Khanna; President of ATF said: “The ATF would not only prove to be a launch pad for the young players but would also aim at strengthening the match readiness of the Davis Cup is the face of professional circuit in their regions.”
It is believed by the ATF Board of Directors that with this new initiative, around 1,500 junior and professional tennis players across Asia stand to benefit from the tour. The first tournament of this newly formed circuit would hit off in New Delhi, India, in April 18th 2016 at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Courts, R.K Khanna Tennis Stadium.
