A large number of organisations were honoured for their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities during 2015, at a special function held at Qatar University (QU) yesterday.
The ceremony saw Qatar Olympic Committee president HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al- Thani being honoured as ‘CSR Person of the Year 2015.’
The report, with an introduction by HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, will be distributed to all Qatari embassies around the world.
The report is part of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between QU and the CSR Network.  It documents the achievements of national organisations in CSR, and monitors progress in social development and Qatar National Vision 2030. This year’s edition is distinguished as the first academic primary study which was prepared and produced under the guidance of College of Business and Economics (CBE) at QU, with input from its students supervised by the CSR committee.
CBE dean Dr Nitham Hindi said the report is of an academic nature and highlights the annual accomplishments of different organisations in the field of social responsibility and the success gained on development issues.
Several leading organisations supported and contributed to the report.  From the government side, they included Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Olympic Committee, Ministry of Economy and Commerce Logistic Committee, National Security Programme and Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah International Foundation for Energy and Sustainable Development.  Qatar Shell, Injaz Qatar, Asthma Qatar Network and the embassies of the UAE, Sweden, The Netherlands and Germany also contributed to the report.
The main sponsor of the report is Qatar Petroleum and the diamond sponsor is QNB while the pearl sponsors are Qatar Central Bank, Sports and Social Activities Support Fund and Qatar Primary Materials Co. The platinum sponsors are HBK and Woqod.
