A raging fire in Bangladesh capital Dhaka destroyed a slum yesterday. However, there was no loss of life, fire official said.
A fire-fighting squad managed to put off the blaze after two-hour-long hectic efforts.
The fire was first noticed around 1.30am (local time) in one of the shanties. It destroyed around 35 shanties in the Dhaka slum, Xinhua quoted a fire official as saying.
Every year fires leave thousands of people homeless in Dhaka. In 2008, a big fire engulfed around 2,000 houses in a slum area and left over 10,000 people homeless.
