Darb Al Saai continues to attract a large number of visitors with several activities and attractions that form part of the 2015 Qatar National Day celebrations.
The venue, situated opposite the Al Sadd Police Station, hosts dozens of tents put up by government agencies, non-government organisations and private companies.
At the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) tent, a number of traditional items commonly seen in Qatari homes are displayed to give people a reflection of the old and modern Qatari way of life. These include bird traps, traditional musical instruments, falcon hood, toys, miniature dhow, religious objects, incense burners and sword, among others. The digital panel used for interactive games is also a big hit among young visitors.
QTA’s public relations and communications director Faisal bin Ahmed al-Mohannadi said they want to promote Qatar as a brand destination globally not only for its hospitality and touristic destinations but also for people to appreciate the country’s rich culture and heritage.
QTA, in collaboration with the Qatar National Day Organising Committee, also trained tour guides to welcome visitors and brief them about the different QND activities at Darb Al Saai.
Many families and students from different schools in Doha are also benefiting from QTA’s free guided tours.
In a number of tents, young students have the opportunity to listen and take part in the story-telling, art, cultural, and broadcast/media activities.
Some pavilions host various programmes and initiatives aimed at raising public awareness such as traffic safety briefing, healthy and active lifestyle campaigns and book reading sessions.
Cultural performances and shows on stage, as well as parades at the venue, also attracted visitors
especially from 4pm to 10pm.
Darb Al Saai has become a favourite place for many residents who want to spend the rest of the day with their families and friends.
The strip hosts many stalls offering elegant abayas and other dresses, perfumes, a variety of Arabic food and sweets, bags, personal accessories,
and different kind of souvenirs.
The horse riding show, which occupies a huge area in the middle of the venue, continues to entertain and enthral people who roam around.
Visitors who want to help save lives by donating their blood may go to the blood donation mobile unit deployed in one area.
