Ooredoo has hosted a special event for companies from some of Qatar’s key industries this week, showcasing its growing portfolio of smart satellite services.
The event, which welcomed around 30 large business customers from industries such as construction, energy, hospitality and security, took place at Ooredoo’s HQ1 tower.
It provided the first in-depth demonstration of Ooredoo’s new very small aperture terminal (VSAT) service, which deploys a small satellite dish capable of both receiving and sending satellite signals.
To support the growth of its portfolio of satellite services, Ooredoo recently signed a MoU with Es’hailSat that will see the two leading Qatari companies work together on a range of new satellite and world-class communication services for the country, according to a statement.
Waleed al-Sayed, CEO of Ooredoo Qatar, said: “Ooredoo continues to launch a series of cutting-edge communication solutions for businesses.
“We are also working hard to introduce these technologies to our customers through workshops and seminars, explaining the benefits for them. We’re excited about the power and potential of VSAT solutions for Qatar, and were pleased to introduce the technology at this event.”
Ooredoo has said is anticipating strong demand for the service, which is a “cost-effective solution for delivering Internet access to even the most remote locations, including desert areas and coastal waters”.
Besides Internet connections, Ooredoo’s smart satellite services include bandwidth pooling, which is considered the most effective way to share bandwidth resources between multiple remote locations; maritime solutions, which ensure high-speed access to the Internet around the clock at sea; OverHorizon Advantage, which provides throughput availability on the move in real time; and Auto-Acquire Antennas, which supports ad-hoc remote broadband, the statement notes.
