The Qatar Insurance Company (QIC) is collaborating with Action on Diabetes (AoD) to raise awareness of diabetes among its employees.
As part of the initiative, which is in line with World Diabetes Day, AoD’s diabetes screening bus is visiting QIC offices to conduct health checks on staff members.
The three-day initiative began yesterday, with tests being performed on more than 100 employees of QIC at its headquarters in West Bay.
The screening includes checks for blood sugar, blood pressure, lipid profile, HbA1c as well as weight, height and body mass index.
AoD is a public-private partnership initiated and funded by Maersk Oil Qatar.
Salem al-Mannai, deputy group president and CEO of QIC - Mena region, said: “We would like to ensure the well-being of all our employees, who we consider our most important asset.”
Sheikh Faisal bin Fahad al-Thani, deputy managing director of Maersk Oil Qatar, noted: “We’re very grateful to QIC for playing a role in helping combat diabetes.”
QIC is also running an awareness campaign on its social media account, How to Prevent Diabetes.
