The 14th Joint Defence Council of the GCC Defence Ministers meeting was held here yesterday under the chairmanship of Qatar’s Minister of State for Defence Affairs HE Major General Hamad bin Ali al-Attiyah, with the participation of the GCC Secretary General Dr Abdul Latif bin Rashid al-Zayani in addition to members of official delegations.
The members of the Joint Defence Council expressed their appreciation and gratitude for the support and attention given by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, as the Chair of the current session of the Supreme Council.
Addressing the meeting, the GCC Secretary General  Dr Abdul Latif bin Rashid al-Zayani said that the council was briefed on outcome of the 13th session submitted by the supreme military council committee, highlighting the  joint military action, defence integration, particularly the ongoing efforts to activate the united military command.
He  said the council had approved the budget allocated to the united military command and requirements of human resources in addition to media aspects of the joint military action, adding  that the council adopted the principles and guidelines’ document of the media in the military field.
The  GCC chief expressed his satisfaction over steps that have been taken in the field of joint military action, expressing his appreciation to the supreme military council committee, commanders of the armed forces,  committees of military action, the GCC General Secretariat and command of the Peninsula Shield Forces, for their efforts to enhance the joint military action.
He added that the council welcomed the invitation extended by the Deputy Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister of Saudi Arabia for holding the 15th session of the Joint Defence Council in Riyadh next year.
The council expressed gratitude to Qatar’s Minister of State for Defence Affairs HE Major General Hamad bin Ali al-Attiyah for his active contribution to the session’s success, recommendations and decisions in addition to the warm hospitality accorded to the participants during the session.
The council also expressed its congratulations for Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Qatar on their National Day.
