The State of Qatar is participating in the 38th Session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco), which is set to begin at the organisation’s headquarters in Paris today.
HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education, and Secretary General of the Supreme Education Council Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi will head Qatar’s delegation to the conference.
The Minister of Education will highlight the great attention given by the State of Qatar to education as a fundamental pillar of development, as well as its support for education on an international scale.
The conference consists of the representatives of the member-states of the organisation. It meets every two years, and is attended by member-states and associate members, together with observers for non-member-states, intergovernmental organisations and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
The conference determines the policies and the main lines of work of the organisation. Its duty is to set the programmes and the budget of Unesco.
