Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) is all set to implement the new clauses of the law on rationalisation of water and electricity consumption.
This is being done in accordance with the newly amended provisions of the Law 26/2008 promulgated through the Law number 20/2015.
The conservation and energy efficiency department of Kahramaa, through its National Programme for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed), is taking a host of measures to stop wastage of the vital resources, ensuring they are protected for future generations.
Kahramaa has unearthed almost 2,800 cases of the violation of the law on rationalisation of water and electricity consumption since the beginning of the year until August this year. The number of violations for the electricity misuse was 1,506 and violations recorded on water were 1,279.
The new law compliments Tarsheed campaign to encourage rationalisation of water and electricity. The prime objective of Tarsheed is to reduce per capita water and electricity consumption in the country by 35% and 20%, respectively until 2017.
