HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud returned to Doha yesterday evening  from the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, where  he had represented the State of Qatar in the Asian-African Summit, which was held on April 22 -23.  The Deputy Premier and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs also participated in a celebration held yesterday to mark the 60th anniversary of the Bandung Conference, in the Indonesian city of Bandung , and the 10th anniversary of the New African-Asian Strategic Partnership, signed in 2005 in Bandung.

Ministry recalls Ford, Lincoln vehicles

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has announced a free recall campaign for Ford and Lincoln models — Taurus, Flex, Edge, MKT, MKX and MKS — due to a manufacturer’s defect in the gear assembly.
The campaign is being conducted in co-operation with Almana Motors Co, the authorised dealer of Ford vehicles in the country.

Workshop on Mers from tomorrow


Doha will host a regional workshop on the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus (Mers-CoV) and One Health from tomorrow.
The workshop has been organised jointly by Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), Ministry of Environment and the Supreme Council of Health, in collaboration with the World Organisation for Animal Health and World Health Organisation. The regional workshop will discuss the current status of the disease in the region and the Horn of Africa. The focus will be on the role of the One Health initiative, aimed at its control. The regional workshop, which will be held over three days at Doha Marriott Hotel, will engage representatives from the GCC and countries affected by the disease in the Arab region along with more than 120 experts from various disciplines.
