No visitor to Qatar Motor Show 2015 is likely to miss Chinese Guangzhou Automobile Group Company (GAC)’s immaculately designed GS5, which is displayed prominently in the Domasco pavilion at Qatar National Convention Centre.
Priced at a little over QR69,000, the vehicle is one of the major surprises at this year’s show and has managed to win the attention of a large number of auto buffs thronging the venue on the first two days of the event.
“It has all the features of any top-end SUV worth its name and is priced within the budget of any potential buyer,” said a Domasco sales employee in the company’s pavilion.
Two other cars from the same manufacturer, GA3 and  GA5, are also displayed in the pavilion and the prices of their base models start from QR45,000 onwards, it is learnt.
The vehicle, the official said, has been a big hit in the markets where it was launched in recent months and in Kuwait, the local dealer sold no less than 1,100 units, mostly of the GA5, in a short period of seven months since its entry.
The manufacturers promise five-star comfort and experience to the users of GA5, whose plant in Guangzhou is producing Honda and some other Japanese brands for the Chinese market, making use of their manufacturing facilities.
“We are hopeful of capturing a major share in the country’s SUV market with our entry into the Qatar market next month,” said the company official. “The major advantage of our vehicles is that they would be able to draw more customers to SUVs than most others as they provide the same comfort levels of any other SUVs at affordable prices.”
The top model of GA5 would be available for less than QR85,000. The brand’s exclusive showroom will start operations next month on Salwa Road.
