Grand Mart has signed an agreement with Bacolod Chk-n-BBQ House, a Filipino-themed mid-price range casual dining restaurant chain, to become the latter’s master franchiser in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain and Myanmar.
Grand Mart is a leading business group in the GCC with operations in Qatar, Oman, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and India.
The contract-signing ceremony was held in Pasig city, the Philippines. Ismail Chakarath, managing director of Grand Mart Group, revealed that the first phase of expansion would start with outlets in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, followed by Oman and Myanmar.
Vivek Verma, general manager of Grand Mart Group, said: “This will win the hearts of thousands of Filipino nationals living in GCC countries for the fact that they will get access to their home taste at an affordable price.”  The group has been on an expansion spree after signing an agreement with Dragon Mart, Qatar, in July to open a 5,000sqm hypermarket.
The upcoming store under the name of Smile Hypermarket is slated for launch in January 2015.
