HE the Foreign Minister Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah with US  Secretary of State John Kerry and Arab League secretary general Nabil al-Arabi attending a meeting dedicated to the conflict in Syria at the US embassy in Paris ahead of a gathering of the Friends of Syria group in Paris yesterday.

HE the Foreign Minister Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah headed Qatar’s delegation to the Friends of Syria group’s ministerial meeting which was held in Paris yesterday.
The meeting addressed the latest developments of the Syrian crisis and ways to support the National Coalition for Syrian revolutionary and opposition forces in addition to the arrangements for holding the Geneva 2 conference slated on January 22.
Al-Attiyah reaffirmed Qatar’s firm and stable stance supporting aspirations of the Syrian people and the efforts being made for uniting the Syrian opposition. He reiterated that the political solution emanating from Geneva 1 conference was the only way out of the crisis in Syria.  The foreign ministers of the 11 Friends of Syria member countries participated in the meeting in addition to the Syrian coalition.
The Friends of Syria group assured  the opposition that there would be no place for President Bashar al-Assad in a transitional government they hope to see emerge from upcoming peace talks. Pages  11, 12
