The world’s largest floating book fair, Logos Hope, will soon return to Doha for a second visit in three years.
Manned by over 400 volunteers from more than 45 countries, the ship is to dock at Doha Port from October 10 to 21.
Logos Hope had welcomed over 44,000 visitors during its first visit in February 2011.
The vessel, currently docked in Colombo, is set to depart from there on September 23, and halt in Muscat from October 1 to 8, before arriving in Doha on October 10.
For the past 21 months, Logos Hope has been sailing around East Asia.
“I’m really looking forward to going back to Qatar, especially the souqs” said the ship’s hotel services manager Alexis Greene (Bahamas).
“People are so hospitable and friendly.”
The book fair on board Logos Hope offers an expanded selection of over 5,000 books at affordable prices. They cover a range of subjects including science, sports, hobbies, cookery, the arts, medicine, dictionaries, languages and philosophy.
With children’s titles, academic texts, dictionaries, atlases and more, the book fair is something the whole family can enjoy. Additionally, the rest of the fully air-conditioned Visitor Experience Deck is also open for the public to explore.
From the Welcome Area, which introduces the new vessel through a short movie and interactive displays, to the International Café, which has ice cream, drinks and snacks for sale, there is something for everyone.
Logos Hope is operated by GBA Ships e.V., an international, charitable organisation registered in Germany. Since 1970 the organisation has welcomed over 42mn visitors up the gangways in over 150 countries and territories around the world.
Logos Hope’s sister ships, Logos and Doulos have visited Qatar repeatedly between 1971 and 2006. More information on the visit of Logos Hope will be announced later.
