Professional gymnast Tatyana Yarosh once again took the centre stage in Villaggio mall yesterday afternoon and wowed the crowd with his breath-taking acrobatic performance.
The 28-year-old former Ukrainian athlete told Gulf Times that she was inspired and “very happy” to see dozens of people watching the show in the mall.
Expatriates and Qataris, mostly children and women, witnessed Yarosh’s exceptional stunt.
Yarosh started her career when she was nearly four years’ old. She joined other Ukrainian gymnasts and trained for more than 15 years.
Winning various international competitions in gymnastics, Yarosh also represented Ukraine at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. She competed at the 2001 and 2002 World Championships and retired after her stint at the 2003 Stella Zakharova Cup.
A member of the Monte Carlo Circus troupe, she performs at Qatar Sports Club for the Eid al-Fitr festivity until September 15.
“It always excites me whenever she steps into the beam and starts to jump. I know she will amaze the people and me too,” said a member of the crew.
Yarosh’s performance was followed by a dog show which fascinated spectators who seemed to be asking for more. The two talented dogs became instant celebrities after a fabulous display of cleverness and execution.
Early afternoon show featured Bruce Airhead manned by Danny who can insert his whole body into a big balloon while dancing and entertaining the crowd. He inserts his head first, his foot last and pops out his head again. He then surprises the crowd with a different costume after bursting the balloon.
“We’ve been very busy the past few days performing in different malls and we hope people could watch us in the coming days,” he said. Danny is from Spain but grew up in London and had been performing for a year.
Bruce Airhead will be in City Center today starting at exactly 2pm. Then he will go to the Doha Exhibition Centre (DEC) for another show which will start at 5pm.
Like in other malls and venues of Eid al-Fitr festivities, the Traditional Parade led by drummers and stilt walkers has amused mallgoers and those in coffee shops, restaurants and stalls.
Dressed like clowns, the team started at the Gondolania Theme Park and walked their way through the corridors of Villaggio.
In the Wanasa Entertainment City, extreme rides like the Crazy Frog and Crazy Fire continue to thrill everyone.
Chafek, an Algerian expatriate for 10 years, said his two children enjoyed playing arcade games and going through the rides. They plan to visit all the malls and venues for the Eid festivity.
Illusionists Stevie Pink is also expected to hold magic shows today in Villaggio (4-5pm) and Hyatt Plaza (6:30-7:30pm). He will also perform tomorrow in Al Khor mall (4-5pm) and in DEC (8:30-9:30pm).
