Parking struggle

Dear Sir,

It is really hard to find parking space near shops or offices anywhere in most parts of Doha. During the working hours, it is a chaotic scene in front of offices and shops on the Airport Road, with vehicles crowding the side street, desperately looking for a parking space. Many drivers double park, blocking other vehicles. The situation is not different on the C Ring and D Ring roads where there are many banks and government and private companies have their branches and offices.

It shows lack of planning when the buildings were originally built. Every office block should give provision for enough parking slots and for construction. But it never seems to be done. Once a building is complete, nothing can be done to expand parking facilities.

There are at least eight or nine bank branches on the C Ring Road between Ramada and Toyota junctions and four or five on the D Ring Road between Al Ahli and Airport junctions.

The branches are visited by thousands of customers every day. Where should they leave their vehicles? On the D Ring Road, only the LuLu hypermarket has enough parking for its customers.

No shades for pupils

Dear Sir,

The Ideal Indian School (IIS) does not provide any shades or a covered area for students waiting for their parents to be picked up after their classes. In the hot weather, it is taxing for children to stand in the open. For a prestigious institute like IIS, it is not a big deal to do the needful in order to protect children whose parents cannot pick them up on time.

Even though the school gets over at 10.30am these days because of examinations, I see a lot of students waiting in the sun for their parents to pick them up at noon. The school should take immediate action to solve this problem.
