Engineers and geoscientists from Qatar’s energy sector were trained by a Houston-based expert during the master classes.

ExxonMobil Qatar recently conducted a series of reservoir surveillance master classes under Tamayoz, an ExxonMobil programme that transfers and shares industry-specific expertise with its joint venture partners in Qatar.  Hosted at ExxonMobil Qatar’s West Bay headquarters, the master classes were held on three consecutive days for groups of experienced reservoir engineers, production engineers and geoscientists from Qatar Petroleum and RasGas.Given the important role reservoir engineers play in the development of energy resources, and to strengthen the role of these professionals in Qatar, ExxonMobil enlisted a Houston-based subject matter expert with over 30 years of experience with the company to deliver the training. Following an inquiry-based learning approach, the sessions encouraged participants to ask the right questions, re-evaluate assumptions and paradigms, and apply effective thought processes to their daily work methodology.“At ExxonMobil, we believe in acquiring the best and most current methodologies available to our industry today, and then sharing these with our partners,” said Alistair Routledge, vice-president of production at ExxonMobil Qatar Inc. “That is why classes such as these are important for the transfer and sharing of knowledge in our sector. The interest from our colleagues in Qatar has been remarkable.”The reservoir surveillance master classes, and all other training programmes held as part of Tamayoz, are an extension of ExxonMobil’s commitment to build the capacity of individuals in Qatar’s energy sector. Tamayoz also underscores the company’s continued support for the Human Development Pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030.
