The Qatar Stars League (QSL) rounded off its community events programme having organised a successful Compound Sports programme. |
Hundreds of residents in Al Gharafa were thrilled with QSL visiting a local compound to deliver a full day of exciting sporting activities.
Earlier this year, QSL launched an exciting and diverse schedule aimed at fostering relationships with communities, while encouraging local people to become more interested in football.
In all, four events have now been delivered; the Nations Cup, the Workers Cup, Mall Sports and, finally, Compound Sports.
Instead of people leaving their homes and compounds to participate in sporting activities, QSports delivered a host of fun events to the residents of Al Wadi 3 Compound in Al Gharafa.
With over 260 homes, this event represented a great chance to forge lasting relationships with a huge community.
Residents were given invitations to join the free event which was open to adults and children.
Two of the streets in the compound were transformed into a thrilling sports zone with football pitches, inflatable play zones and plenty of other sporting activities for people to enjoy.
Following the success of the event, Abdulrahman al-Dosari, Chief of Commercial for QSL, said: “All the events we have organized with QSports so far have been a big success with local communities. I was delighted to see the Compound Sports initiative was no different.
“Life can be extremely busy for families at time, which is why it was such a great idea to take the fun to them. It was a great experience for everyone involved and we are proud to have been part of it.”
Representatives of the QSL and coaches from Al Gharafa Sports Club joined the event, wowing the youngsters with street style football before signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans – young and old.
Some of the activities included mini field football tournaments, target and speed goal wall shoot outs and football clinics.
One of the highlights was a match played between the mothers and housewives of the compound.
Around 700 people attended throughout the day, a great number which demonstrates the excitement of those involved.
