Doha receives Asian Youth Games Virtual Torch

Khaleel Ibraheem al-Jaber, the Director of Sport Affairs Department QOC and Issa Ali Ghanem, the Head of Qatar administrative delegation to the 2nd  Asian Youth Games 2013 and QOC staff received the Virtual flame upon arrival in Doha.

The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), the governing sport body received the Asian Youth Games Virtual Torch 2013  from Dubai, United Arab Emirate on Monday as per the relay programme scheduled by the Games Organizing Committee (NAYGOC).

Athletes in Doha watched the Games Virtual Torch Relay online on  big screens installed in a number of  commercial complexes and malls  in Doha, as well as the VIP  main hall at the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC).

Khaleel Ibraheem al-Jaber, the Director of Sport Affairs Department in the QOC and Issa Ali Ghanem, the Head of Qatar administrative delegation to the 2nd  Asian Youth Games  2013 beside some QOC staff received the Virtual flame upon arrival in Doha.

Al Jaber appreciated the flame arrival in Doha and  the NAYGOC’s pioneering initiative to relay the Torch online in a creative  method allowed  all the nations across the world watching the flame.

He also applauded china’s professionalism and organisational skills to host the second edition of Asian Youth Games.Likewise,Issa Ali Ghanem,  the Head of Qatar Administrative Delegation to the prestigious Games hailed the  torch relay idea  online and described the process as wonderful  to attract the youth concern across the world.

According to the NAYGOC, the Asian Youth Games Torch relay was launched in Seoul and Busan Cities of  Korea earlier on May  8 and is scheduled to travel through 72 Asian cities to attract youth concern across the world. The Torch will leave Doha on May 28 to Bahrain, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam,  Cambodia,  Malaysia, Singapore, Timor Leste, Indonesia, Brunei, Philippines and China (host nation).

The  prestigious 2nd Asian Youth Games  2013 will take place from August 16-24 in Nanjing city of China. There are fifteen sports disciplines included to these Games such as Aquatics (Diving & Swimming), Athletics, Badminton, Basketball (Basketball 3/3), Fencing, Football, Golf, Handball, Judo, Rugby, Shooting, Squash, Table Tennis, Tennis & Weightlifting. Qatar will compete in 11 sports including Football, Basketball, Handball, Shooting, Squash, Swimming, Judo, Tennis, Athletics and Table Tennis.
