International Academy for Intercultural Development (IAID), in association with Friends of the Environment Centre (FEC), organised an arts workshop at Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar.
The workshop was part of the activities lined up for the World Environment Day (WED) celebrations. Its objective was to help arts instructors find deeper meaning and pleasure in visual arts, using environment as their inspiration. The event was held in collaboration with Faber-Castell.
More than 100 teachers from over 30 schools in Qatar attended the workshop, which was conducted by Faber-Castell creative artists Yayu Afliyani Rahayu and Rizal Susanto.
“We organised the workshop for teachers to help them respond to the environmental challenges we face,” said Rajesh Jadhav, production head, WED 2013.
A host of games were also organised during the workshop.
“With the help of Faber-Castell, we were able to make it a memorable experience. We are grateful to the teachers for their support and VCUQ for providing us with venue,” said Marianne Indrinal, of WED 2013.
Paulita D Pal, a teacher from Philippine School Doha, said: “The workshop has given me a new understanding of how to use creative skills.”
