Arab vision to handle the Syrian crisis

HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani at the Cairo meeting.QNA/CairoThe Arab committee on Syria has agreed on the elements that would contribute to the success of the forthcoming Geneva international conference on a political solution for the Syrian crisis. The committee delegated HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani and the Arab League Secretary General Nabil el-Arabi to present these elements to the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and the UN-Arab League joint envoy Lakhdar Brahimi. According to a statement released yesterday after the committee’s urgent meeting in Cairo, the elements deal with the Arab vision to handle the Syrian crisis, which will be presented to the conference. The meeting, held under the chairmanship of HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, discussed the escalating situation in Syria and the crystallising of a united Arab stance towards efforts to reach a political settlement for the two-year crisis in light of the recent political approaching under a US-Russian umbrella.
