Total Marketing Qatar, a subsidiary of Total E&P, is involved in the manufacturing and marketing of the entire range of automotive and industrial lubricants, greases, aviation, bitumen and various specialty products. The company shared with its contractors its HSE (health, safety and environment) charter and its eight articles, including safety, industrial risk prevention, health and industrial hygiene, environment and sustainable development.
The lubricants company ensures that all contractors engaged in the delivery of products are pre-qualified to meet its stringent requirements and the vehicles deployed for delivery of products within Qatar conform to stringent technical specifications, including equipment such as onboard computers/GPS to track and monitor driver behaviour.
A specialised two-day training is organised for product delivery drivers where they are exposed not only to preventive driving skills but also to the knowledge of products, so that they are able to react immediately in case of an emergency - thereby mitigating the impact. The training also involves in-cab monitoring by an experienced driver who guides the drivers from time to time.
