Rahul praises Chandy, slams Kerala CPM

IANS/ThiruvananthapuramCongress vice president Rahul Gandhi yesterday praised Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and asked the opposition Communist Party of India (Marxist) to introspect and rethink its ideology.Gandhi was addressing a function to mark the culmination of a rally taken out by state Congress chief Ramesh Chennithala, who travelled across Kerala’s 140 assembly constituencies.“The opposition here and their ideology are being systematically used to unleash violence and aggression against the Congress Party. The world has given up communism. Even the Chinese have a different view of communism. The Soviet Union no longer exists, neither does communism in Russia. The CPM here should introspect,” said Gandhi, addressing party workers at the Central Stadium here.Gandhi described Chandy as one of the most dynamic and capable chief ministers.“The chief minister always travels to districts and talks to people. Kerala is a global tourist destination. I hope Kerala becomes a global business centre. A large number of jobs have to be created here,” Gandhi said.About the CPM and development, Gandhi said during the Left Front’s regime, he saw incomplete flyovers.“This government has gone ahead in major projects like the Vizhinjam Port, Smart City, Kannur airport and Kochi Metro,” he added.
