Drivers wait for customers beside their US-made cars at a private collective taxi stand in Havana. Collective taxis, also known as “almendron” (big nutshell), have established routes around or near Havana, picking up and dropping off passengers along the way. The price of a journey in these taxis range from $0.50 for a ride within the city to $1 for a 30km ride to the outskirts of Havana.
