James Dyson, the billionaire British inventor of the bagless vacuum cleaner, has chosen to build his electric car in Singapore to be close to Asian customers, supply chains and a highly skilled workforce.
The first electric car from the proposed new venture from Qatar Quality Trading Company will roll out of the assembly line in 2022, it was announced on Wednesday.
Alfardan Group was involved in Phase 1 of Qatar’s first electric car charging station project launched in February this year by Kahramaa as part of its ‘Green Car Initiative’.
Kahramaa president Essa bin Hilal al-Kuwari recalled that the Green Car Initiative was launched last May after an agreement signing involving Kahramaa, the Ministry of Energy and Industry and Ministry of Transport and Communications.
The second-generation Nissan Leaf has a potential range of 400 kilometres between charges, compared with 250 kilometres for its previous version.
