Qatari trainees with senior officials of RasGas’ Operations Group
RasGas has made a big leap in its Qatarisation programme in 2011 as the company’s Operations Group had a total of 138 Qatari trainees, including 66 newly enrolled last year.
The number of Qataris joining for training in RasGas has been steadily increasing for the last four years, the LNG major said.
The Competency Assurance and Training (CAT) division of the company’s Operations Business Department had 27 Qatari trainees in 2008; the number grew to 138 in 2011. During this period, RasGas has confirmed a total of 137 Qatari trainees in different departments under the Operations Group.
Sixty-six new Qatari trainees were recruited to RasGas’ Process and Maintenance departments last year from among the 138 trainees managed by CAT division in 2011. Forty-seven trainees, who completed RasGas specific Certificate-3 training course were confirmed by the year end.
RasGas Operations Group manager Hamad Mubarak al-Muhannadi, who addressed the new recruits at a special welcoming session held recently at the company’s Training Centre in Ras Laffan said: “RasGas believes in bolstering the confidence of its workforce by enabling the employees to hone their skills in all areas of work on a regular basis as our human resources constitute the main asset of the company.”
Al-Muhannadi reiterated RasGas’ commitment to professional development of young Qataris by creating a performance-based culture and setting up competency-based training in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 as they represent the future generation of the country’s professionals and leaders.
He told the trainees that safety is the key focus in RasGas and there is no alternative to hard work to climb the ladder of success.
Al-Muhannadi along with Fahad al-Khater, RasGas Operations Projects Department manager, Houd al-Obaidly, Operations Business Department manager and Khalid al-Hemaidi, Operations Manufacturing manager, explained the growth plans of the company.
The highly interactive session with the leadership reflected the positive indication of the trainees’ enthusiasm towards their career and future prospects. The officials also distributed certificates and gifts to the trainees.
