Vodafone Red recharge vouchers can now be purchased for the first time through mobile phones using Doha Bank mobile banking application.
Doha Bank and Vodafone Qatar yesterday announced an extension of their joint services to a newly-launched smart channel.
Vodafone Qatar and Doha Bank already have a long standing relationship and a major partnership agreement, which covers real time debit transactions, Doha Bank ATM recharge and online banking for Vodafone subscribers and Doha Bank customers.
“With the launch of the new Doha Bank mobile banking application, Doha Bank has incorporated comprehensive services and valuable e-commerce applications to offer greater convenience to customers,” a bank release said.
“With Vodafone a valued partner, Vodafone Red recharge vouchers have now become available for purchase for the first time ever in Qatar using the Doha Bank mobile banking application. This comes in line with Doha Bank and Vodafone mutually agreeing to aligning and integrating the telecom business with the banking industry,” Doha Bank said.
Nabil Tabbara, Doha Bank executive manager (retail banking) said, “Doha Bank understands the importance of rapidly providing financial services through mobile phones to offer a physical proximity and added convenience for customers. With mobile phones, customers do not have to walk miles to find a bank branch - they are instead carrying it in their pockets. We are extending our e-commerce platform to the mobile banking application, which has become the next generation banking with the smart phones proliferation.
 “What makes Doha Bank mobile banking most suitable is the fact that the application is offered on all phones including the top three smart phone operating systems- Blackberry, Apple iOS, Android and the most vastly used web enabled handsets, such as Nokia and Samsung.
“We are glad to offer Vodafone Red purchase on mobile phones and for the first time ever to all our customers. If our customers happen to be awake and out of credit at midnight Vodafone and Doha Bank are open to service them. Additionally, with Doha Bank’s mobile banking application our customers can now enjoy the flexibility of purchasing their Vodafone Red anywhere in the world.”
Vodafone Qatar head (operations) Phillip Worsley said, “This is a great addition to the recharge options for our customers.
