Regency Travel and Tours of Qatar, after winning the award for the World’s Leading Travel Agency for the year 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010, has retained the award for the fifth time in a row for 2011.
The grand finale of the World Travel Awards, considered the highest level of recognition in the travel industry, was hosted for the first time in Qatar on Wednesday. The most important decision-makers in global travel and tourism attended the show, which was held in partnership with the Qatar Tourism Authority, at Katara Cultural Village, Doha’s ground-breaking new arts and exhibitions complex.
Tareq Abdullatif Taha, chief executive officer of Regency Travel and Tours, received the award at the glittering programme. Accompanying him to the event was senior management team of Regency Travel and Tours. Senior management team of Regency Group Holdings subsidiaries also attended
the event.
Ibrahim Hassan al -Asmakh, president of Regency Group Holding, parent company of Regency Travel and Tours was recognised as Travel Personality of The Year 2011. Hassan Ibrahim al-Asmakh, Regency Group Holding vice president for Business Development, received the award on behalf of his father.

On this occasion, Taha said: “I firstly would like to congratulate all the winners, especially our president, Ibrahim Hassan al-Asmakh, for winning Travel Personality of the Year Award and our esteemed partners Qatar Airways, Qatar Tourism Authority and Aspire Zone. An event of this scale being staged in Qatar is a testimony of Qatar’s increasing popularity among the travel industry and customers globally as destination of choice for business and leisure alike.
“Winning the awards for the fifth consecutive time and in Qatar is obviously special. It also makes us as an organisation very conscious of the expectations of our clients. I attribute our continuous growth to the ‘service oriented outlook’ of our company, our investment in human personnel and training, all of which are connected.”
Tareq said that RTT intends to launch new products within the travel domain and open new outlets in 2012.
“This success would not be a possibility without the vision of Ibrahim Hassan al-Asmakh and the teamwork of the management and staff of Regency Travel and Tours,” he added.
