The Stanford delegation with Dr Marafih and Qtel officials
A delegation from the prestigious Stanford Graduate School of Business, US visited the Qtel headquarters last week to learn about one of Qatar’s most dynamic companies.
Dr Nasser Marafih, CEO of the Qtel Group, outlined the impressive growth from a single-country operator with fewer than 500,000 customers in 2005 to a regional leader with more than 82mn customers and a presence in 17 countries.
He also examined the challenges and opportunities facing the telecommunications sector in 2012, and discussed the Qtel Group’s robust strategy for staying ahead of changing industry trends.
The Stanford delegation comprised 34 high potential students who are visiting a number of key institutions in Qatar to learn about the nation’s impressive development.
Dr Nasser Marafih said: “We are pleased and proud to share the Qtel Group’s growth story with international business students, to help deepen an understanding of our company mission, and to share knowledge about Qatar’s ongoing success.”
The presentation by the Qtel Group was part of an integrated programme, designed to educate participants about Qatar’s economy, history and culture and contribute to the development of global management skills.
