Aspire officials cut a cake at the celebrations
Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco), al khaliji Bank, Aspire Academy, and Mowasalat celebrated Qatar National Day on a grand scale. Qapco’s celebrations which involved staff, their families and special invitees, were held in the open area outside it’s headquarters and the food court in Villaggio Mall.

Qapco employees welcomed passersby handing out gifts and food coupons. Large number of guests including high ranking officials and representatives of the business community participated in the celebration.
Qapco vice chairman and CEO Dr Mohamed Yousef al-Mulla said that the company has among its employees 40 different nationalities who have all been introduced to the strong foundations of Qatari tradition and unity.
Chief commercial and administration officer Yousef Darwish Fakhro said Qatar National Day has special significance to Qataris and expatriates.
“The last four decades have seen Qatar make tremendous strides in every field and we are proud to be part of this progress. For the employees of Qapco, this is an occasion to renew our commitment to the welfare of this great nation and dedication to our organisation,” he added.
Public relations manager Ahmad Yaseen al-Hamadi said it was heartening to see people of so many different nationalities and cultures joining their Qatari colleagues to mark Qatar National Day at Villaggio.
“We are delighted to be celebrating Qatar’s past in one of the fastest-growing business communities of the future,” he added. Al Khalij Commercial Bank (al khaliji) hosted the celebrations at its headquarters in the presence of chairman Sheikh Hamad bin Faisal bin Thani al-Thani.

He said that with every National Day, the nation’s 2030 Vision becomes clearer and within reach, and similarly, the banking sector becomes stronger.
“It is because of the wisdom and foresight of this country’s leadership that we are where we are today - with a resilient banking sector and an ever-growing national economy.
“At al khaliji, we take great pride in playing a role in Qatar’s growth, and sending a message to the rest of the world that this country is ready for tomorrow’s challenges,” he added.
Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence organised a Qatar National Day event for its students and employees.
Badr Jassim al-Hay, director of education and student care, spoke about the symbolism attached to the National Day as well as the historical role of Qatar’s founding father, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani.
The participants were later invited to join hands in cutting a cake, specially made for the occasion in the colours of the Qatari flag. The participants also had an element of surprise in store as scores of paratroopers descended from a helicopter, hovering over the Aspire Park, holding the Qatari flag high.
Aspire Academy officials thanked the paratroopers from Lekhwiya for putting on the show and their efforts in contributing to the celebrations.
The attendees also took part in a traditional sword dance, had their pictures taken next to a falcon – Qatar’s most popular bird, and signed a wall to express their feelings.
All participants received National Day souvenirs featuring mottos, Qatari flags, stickers, photographs and statues.
Mowasalat distributed gifts worth several thousand riyals to children at a number of schools to mark the Qatar National Day celebrations.
The company put the stickers of the national colours on many of its vehicles and several buses were put in service in the Corniche area for ferrying people from different locations.
The company’s administrative headquarters and its neighbouring buildings in the Karwa compound were wrapped in colourful stickers.
Chairman Jassim Saif al-Sulaiti said that along with the country’s residents, the Mowasalat and its staffers also felt proud of its achievements.
“The anniversary is one remarkable occasion, when  people recall the sacrifices made by founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani to unite the region into what became later known as Qatar,” he pointed out.
The anniversary, said al-Sulaiti, inspires in people the lessons learned from the life of a unique leader as Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani who through his wisdom, insight, and firm faith in God set the base for the country’s foundation.
“As we celebrate the anniversary of the National Day, we are proud to keep in mind the vision of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani to position Qatar at a high level globally,” he said.
