Family members said goodbye yesterday to Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of singers Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, who died on July 26.
Brown’s funeral took place in Alpharetta, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, media reports said. Brown, 22, died in an Atlanta-area hospice centre after spending six months in a coma that was medically induced after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub in January.
The number of guests at her funeral was not known, but the entertainment news portal TMZ.com reported that only a few were invited. People.com said both sides of the family were present at Brown’s wake on Friday evening, but her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, was banned from attending both the wake and the funeral.
A fight over money between family members continues, according to both TMZ.com and People.com. The Houstons and the Browns fell out when Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston divorced. Houston died in 2012 at age 48. She also was found unresponsive in a bathtub.
During Friday’s wake the Browns waited in their cars until the Houstons paid their respects, according to reports. They also arrived separately for the services yesterday.
TMZ.com also said there was acrimony between the families over a suggestion that people donate to a foundation to benefit troubled teens run by Bobbi Kristina’s aunt, Pat Houston.
