Unknown hackers have paralyzed the website of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the security and democracy watchdog said Wednesday in Vienna.
The OSCE media freedom representative, Dunja Mijatovic, tweeted that the attack was "set in motion trying to limit freedom of expression."
The 57-member OSCE is monitoring security situations and promoting civic rights in several countries including Ukraine. Two OSCE monitoring teams are currently detained in Ukraine by pro-Russian separatists.
Since Tuesday evening, the organization has been subject to a denial-of-service attack, in which a website is inundated and ultimately stalled with data requests.
