Activities of the first session of the optimal implementation review group of the Arab anti-corruption convention, organized by the Department of Legal Affairs of the General-Secretariat of the Arab League and the National Anti-corruption Commission in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Nazaha) kicked off Sunday at the General-Secretariat of Arab League with the participation of the State of Qatar and representatives of the states parties to the convention.

The State of Qatar was represented in this session by the Director of the Legal Affairs Department at the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority (ACTA) Mohammed bin Khalid Al Sada and the Head of Technical Office of ACTA Jassim bin Abdulrahman Al Derhem.

The two-day session addressed an array of items, including the Qatari review reports, their organization and schedule, the drawing of lots and implementation mechanisms, in addition to a discussion of the decisions of the fourth session of the Conference and the report on the implementation review team.

In a statement, the Arab League stated that the convention of the session comes in implementation of the decisions made in the 4th session of the states parties to Arab Anti-Corruption Convention held in the Saudi capital Riyadh, which decided to co-opt members of government, substantiative and technical task force from the states parties that would fundamentally create and explore the technical and substantiative mechanisms to attain the best methods of the optimal implementation of Arab anti-corruption convention, clarifying that the convention that was agreed by the councils of Arab ministers of interior and justice in their joint meeting held on Dec. 21,2021, comes in confirmation of the importance of Arab cooperation to further prevent and combat corruption as a transnational phenomenon, in order to optimize the capabilities of the states parties and their cooperation in achieving the goals set forth in the convention for the sake of encouraging their implementation, facilitating information sharing among the states parties, organizations, regional and international mechanisms and the relevant governmental organizations, as well as taking note of the measures that may be necessary in this regard.
