Lebanese Minister of Education and Higher Education Abbas Halabi praised Qatar's continued support to Lebanon and its people, especially during crises. Speaking exclusively to Qatar News Agency (QNA), he said that Qatar's support is appreciated by the people of Lebanon. He added that it confirms the strength of bilateral ties, which he described as fraternal and strong.
The minister discussed areas of Qatari support for Lebanon whether in the health, educational, educational, economic, humanitarian and other sectors, including Qatar's support for Lebanon following the explosion in Beirut in August 2020, and its financing for the restoration of 122 educational facilities in the areas of the explosion under the supervision of Unesco.
He also acknowledged Doha's support for the Lebanese army, Qatar's role in the reconstruction of cities, villages and homes after the Israeli aggression in 2006, and its sponsorship of the Doha Agreement that ended the Lebanese crisis in 2008. Halabi added that Qatar's support affirms the country's commitment to the stability of Lebanon and its people in overcoming any circumstances they face.
He highlighted his meeting with Qatar's Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Buthaina bint Ali al-Jabr al-Nuaimi, adding that both sides reviewed bilateral ties in the educational field, as well as the scope for enhancing them. The Lebanese minister added that the two sides also discussed the challenges facing the sector in light of the current economic crisis the country faces and said that he met with Director-General of the Qatar Fund for Development Khalifa bin Jassim al-Kuwari.
HE the Lebanese Minister of Education and Higher education praised the education process in Qatar, saying it was an example to follow. He also stressed that the strong education system in Qatar was behind the country's many successes locally and internationally. He expressed his hope that Qatari tourists and investors would back to Lebanon soon.
During his visit of the Lebanese School of Qatar, he expressed his satisfaction with the school's performance and praised the co-operation between the school's board and the Lebanese embassy in Qatar. He stressed that the Lebanese ministry is ready to support the school in continuing its progress. Halabi concluded his remarks to QNA by saying that Lebanon is an integral part of the Arab world that is keen on staying on good terms with all Arab countries, particularly in the GCC.
