ExxonMobil Qatar and Qatar Museums (QM) entered into a sponsorship agreement for Dadu, Children’s Museum of Qatar, with the company signing on as a founding family member.
QM’s chairperson, HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, and ExxonMobil Qatar’s president and general manager Dominic Genetti made the announcement during an official ceremony at QM earlier this week.
Under this partnership, ExxonMobil Qatar will become the exclusive sponsor of the museum’s Sustainability and Valuing the Environment Gallery – a space that will focus on the natural environment and biodiversity.
The gallery’s objectives are consistent with those of ExxonMobil Qatar’s values to protect Qatar’s natural environment and marine life – including its iconic dugong population – and raise awareness among students and the general public about the importance of sustainability for the future of our planet.
Furthermore, the gallery ties in with ExxonMobil Qatar’s commitment to educational development – particularly in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects – towards advancing the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and its human development pillar.
In a statement, HE Sheikha al-Mayassa said: “ExxonMobil Qatar is supporting Qatar Museums' ethos of sustainability and environmental awareness. Once opened, the gallery will educate children and families about Qatar's natural habitat and how we can all do our part to preserve the environment.”
Genetti said: “The Children’s Museum of Qatar will provide endless opportunities for learning and creative discovery, and we’re proud to be a part of such a significant national project. We’re also delighted to sponsor a space at the museum that will stir love and curiosity for nature and help children become aware of the environment and motivated to take action to preserve it. We hope it will be very busy and wish it every success in the future”.
ExxonMobil Qatar and QM have a shared vision of preserving Qatari culture and heritage that is reflected in their collaborations. In June, ExxonMobil Research Qatar (EMRQ) and QM worked closely to bring the highly successful Seagrass Tales, Dugong Trails – an exhibition that highlighted the cultural and environmental significance of dugongs – to the National Museum of Qatar. ExxonMobil is also the platinum sponsor of Qatar - USA Year of Culture 2021 – a QM initiative.
